Matthew Fitzpatrick Bye

Matthew Fitzpatrick

Matthew Fitzpatrick shot a four-over 76 in the final round of the U.S. Open to fall into a tie for 35th place.

Fitzpatrick hit over 80 percent of the fairways, but was just 68th in driving distance this week. While that doesn't come as too much of a surprise it definitely put him at a disadvantage having to come into holes with longer clubs. When he did hit the green in regulation he had the fourth best putting average, however. Fitzpatrick remains 35th in the OWGR.

Matthew Fitzpatrick will be in the field for the U.S Open at Erin Hills.

Fitzpatrick will be playing alongside Peter Uihlein and Ben An for the opening two rounds. The Englishman will be coming into the U.S. Open off a T2 in his defense of the Nordea Masters. Fitzpatrick also has five other top-20 finishes in 2017. It will be interesting to see how the longest course in U.S. Open history fits Fitzpatrick's game as he is slightly below average as far as distance off the tee.

Matthew Fitzpatrick fired a two-under 70 in the final round of the Masters to finish in 32nd place.

He was off to a great start to the week as he briefly held the lead in the first round at three-under par. Fitzpatrick really struggled in his second round, however, as he shot a six-over 78 that took him out of contention. This finish breaks a streak of three straight top-20 finishes. Fitzpatrick will be in the field for the RBC Heritage. He missed the cut at this event last season.

Matthew Fitzpatrick was unable to advance to the Round of 16 at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

Fitzpatrick went 2-1-0 in his three group play matches to set up a playoff with Kevin Na, who also had two group points. It was Na who would advance in a sudden-death playoff with a birdie on the first playoff hole. Fitzpatrick notched his third straight top-20 finish with his performance in Austin. He will next play at the Masters in two weeks where he scored a tie for seventh last year.
